Who we are.
BLACK BOX was built by a 24 year U.S. Navy Veteran. It started with his own family — the people he wanted covered first — and grew into something meant to outlast whoever is running it. If the company disappears, the protection doesn't: the code is public, the architecture is documented, and anyone can run it themselves.
911 is for when you can speak, BLACK BOX is for when you can't.
The idea is that in society, it is only about what can be proven or corroborated. BLACK BOX has your back.
What we refuse to do.
The survivor never pays. Not through a tier, not through a trial, not ever. There are no subscriptions, no ads, no tracking, no data sold or mined - your record is yours, and nothing about it is our product.
The software is open source, so you don't have to take our word for how it works. And it will never tell you help is coming when it isn't; if a message didn't reach anyone, it says so.
Organizations that protect people - shelters, coalitions, tribal programs, campus safety - license it, and that's what keeps it free for the people who need it. Need-based organizations pay nothing.
